Australian Enthusiasts Wiki, like all other wikis, allows you to choose a username to represent you as a contributor. There are certain rules that apply, however.
Individuality[edit source]
Your username must represent you as an individual person.
That means that:
- Usernames that consist of a company name (for example, "Eletech Pty Ltd.") are not allowed, as they do not allow for identifying the exact person who utilises the account. Note that "Shane at Eletech Pty Ltd" would be permissible, as it would uniquely identify Shane's account from other users.
- Usernames that are promotional in nature, or appear to advertise, promote, sell, or gain support or user base of any person, company, market, product, channel, or other good or service, are not allowed.
- Usernames that imply that your user account will be shared between more than one person (such as "Doe Family Shared Account") are not allowed.
- Usernames that only describe a role, title, or position within an organization that can be represented or held by different people (for example, Contuso Marketing Department) are not allowed.
Productiveness and civility[edit source]
Your username must be truthful, appropriate, and support a positive editing environment.
That means that:
- Usernames must not be offensive, profane, violent, threatening, sexually explicit, libelous, or disruptive.
- Usernames must not be deliberately deceptive, confusing, long, similar to other accounts or users, or try to impersonate or falsely represent yourself as someone else.
- Usernames must not imply the intent to troll, vandalize, disrupt, advertise, or spam Australian Enthusiasts Wiki.
- Usernames must not imply the intent to harass or threaten other Australian Enthusiasts Wiki users (for example, "ExampleUser is an idiot").
- Usernames must not imply that you are not here to build an encyclopedia or will use Australian Enthusiasts Wiki for purposes that it is not created for.
