This category lists all Hitachi drives that are members of the Hitachi ARM family Pathfinder. This family succeeds the single-platter versions of the previous family Vancouver, increasing density to 82.3 GB. Its multi-platter counterpart is Vancouver-III, which can hold up to three platters. Similar to all Hitachi 3.5" families prior to the release of Western Digital's Sequoia and Tornado, Pathfinder is the only single-platter 80 GB/platter family to use ramp loading, rather than the contact start-stop method which was employed by all other manufacturers. Pathfinder was succeeded by Pathfinder-II, after which the Pathfinder name would be discontinued as Hitachi changed thier family codenaming scheme.
