This category lists all Hitachi or Toshiba drives that are members of the Hitachi ARM family Mars. It succeeds the Jupiter, Mariner and Mars-K families, increasing density to 1 TB per platter and adding Advanced Format. It is a 7,200 RPM variant of the Mars-C family. All 2 or 3 platter models have 64 MB cache, but only single platter Toshiba retail models contain 64 MB as well; Hitachi-branded or Toshiba OEM single platter models have only 32 MB cache. Initially produced by Hitachi, as of 2013 they are exclusively produced by Toshiba instead. as the former discontinued production in favour of newly-parent company Western Digital's 7,200 RPM designs. It was the final single-platter 7,200 RPM family produced in-house by Hitachi, and along with Mars-C are the final single-platter families overall.
