This category lists all Hitachi drives that are members of the Hitachi ARM family Mars-C. It succeeds the Jupiter-C and Mariner-C families, increasing density to 1 TB per platter and adding Advanced Format. It is a CoolSpin variant of the regular Mars family. For unknown reasons, only three platter models have 5,940 RPM spindle speed; less populous models have a reduced 5,700 RPM speed instead. While the majority of models from this family have 32 MB cache, select Toshiba retail models contain 64 MB instead. Initially produced by Hitachi, as of 2013 they are exclusively produced by Toshiba instead. as the former discontinued production in favour of newly-parent company Western Digital's 5,400 RPM designs.
