This category lists all Western Digital drives that are members of the WD Marvell family Raider. Raider succeeds the previous Hawk and Hawk 2, increasing the density to 100 - 107 GB per platter. Raider was only available on SATA 2.0 drives; Buccaneer is identical to Raider in most respects, but does use the older PATA and SATA 1.0 standards. Like many early Marvell drives, Raider could use either older black lids or newer silver ones. They were the last less than four platter contact start-stop drives to be made by Western Digital (the four-platter Zeus family was overall the final contact-start stop family); their successor, Tornado, introduced ramp-loading to 3.5"s for the first time, following its use in the 2.5" Scorpio family.
