This category lists all Western Digital drives that are part of the Vela-AX platform, which is the first to be wholly marketed under the Western Digital brand without any reference to HGST. Like all modern HGST-produced platforms at the time, Vela-AX is named after a constellation. However, unlike various helium platforms such as Aries, Libra or Leo, which are all named after traditional star signs, Vela-AX is instead named after the namesake Vela constellation in the Vela Supercluster. Out of the three Vela platforms, Vela-AX has the largest platter count, at six; the first HGST-produced platform to be capable of. As with the other Vela platforms, Vela-AX can also be found in a gimped performance, "5,400 RPM class" variant for various traditionally-5,400 RPM families such as Western Digital Red Plus and Internal Use, although rotational speed is always 7,200 RPM.
