Australian Enthusiasts Wiki:Blocking policy

From Australian Enthusiasts Wiki

Blocking is the removal of editing rights from a user. It can be performed by administrators.

Valid block reasons

The following reasons, or a combination of, are valid for blocking a user. Most of these reasons may only be valid after one or more warnings have been messaged to you. The blocking administrator will leave you a talk page message explaining why you have been blocked.

Preventing vandalism

Your account may be blocked if you engage in persistent vandalism even after one or more warnings.

Inserting false information

Your account may be blocked if you continue to add false information, even after being warned.

Unacceptable username

If your username violates the username policy, your account will be blocked. Under most circumstances, you will be able to change your username, either by registering for a new account or requesting a global rename. However, some obviously bad faith usernames may not allow you to continue editing.

Appeals

Appealing a block can be done if you believe that either:

  • the block was not necessary to prevent damage or disruption, or ergo, that the block was a violation of this blocking policy, or:
  • the block is no longer necessary to prevent damage or disruption because you understand what you are blocked for, you will not do it again, and you will make productive contributions instead; or:
  • that your conduct is not connected in any way with the disruption that led to your block, ergo, you were unintentionally blocked due to an IP range block, hard block or other technical reasons.

If you believe your block is not or no longer necessary for any of the above three reasons, start your unblock request by following the directions in the block template that was left on your talk page. If no instructions were given, then use and follow the directions of {{Unblock}}.
