Australian Enthusiasts Wiki:Media rules and guidelines
From Australian Enthusiasts Wiki
Australian Enthusiasts Wiki allows editors who are confirmed to upload files. However, strict rules govern what may and may not be uploaded.
Copyright
- Do not upload copyrighted media without permission from the author or without following free license rules (if applicable). Do not upload copyrighted material or screenshots of it without the author's permission. The author must confirm via email via Freosan Studios' contact form that they agree to license the image under one of our free licenses. If the file happens to already be licensed under a free licence (such as Creative Commons licenses), you must ensure that any possible uses of the file on AEW will not infringe on any of the licence's conditions, such as correct attribution. Failure to respect copyright will result in the offending files being deleted to prevent copryight problems.
- If the file you are uploading is covered by one of the licences listed in the dropdown, select it. If the licence the file is released under is not on the upload page, ask at the administrators' noticeboard so it can be added. If in doubt, ask on the talk page of the article you were intending to add it to, or any established user talk page.
- If you are the author, you agree to release it under either the CC BY 4.0, CC BY SA 4.0 or other free licence, as chosen during the upload process. By uploading a file here, you agree to license it under an available license. To confirm this, you must chose a license from the selection allowed on the upload form. You agree that whatever license you choose is irrevocable. Failure to license your uploads properly (such as by not choosing one at all or deliberately stating that all rights are reserved) will result in your file being deleted!
Off-topic media
- Off-topic media will be deleted if orphaned. You must tag off-topic images with
{{Off-topic}}
; any such images that aren't may be speedily deleted. Any orphaned images that use this template may also be deleted after seven days. - No excessive off-topic media uploads: A maximum of ten off-topic uploads per person per year is allowed. Breaching this limit may result in removal of uploading or even editing privileges. Files from Wikimedia Commons are not included in this quota however, as they are not stored on our servers.
- To sum up; any new off-topic images uploaded to AEW are covered under this quota. Files that are stored on Wikimedia Commons, however, are not. That means you may have more than ten off-topic images on your userpage, even in one edit, so long as no more than ten are locally uploaded to AEW per year.
- Nothing in this policy disallows uploading an image first to Commons, then using it on your user page here. However, Commons has its own guidelines which must also be respected.
Banned media
On Australian Enthusiasts Wiki, we take file safety seriously. The following banned media will be immediately removed.
- Content that is illegal under Australian law or disallowed by the Freosan Studios Terms of Use. This includes pirated software and child pornography, as well as files designed to damage receiving computers (malware).
- Shock or pornographic media. Regardless of legal status, these types of material is banned on this wiki.
